40 days

I can first of all say that I am not very good at updating the blog, but I feel like I have a good excuse---life has been a little crazy.

With that aside, the wedding is in 40 days! As of this past Saturday, it was exactly 6 weeks. I have so many different emotions about that though. I'm above all VERY excited to be married to Matt. I feel like we had so much fun this weekend and we really did nothing. He's just ridiculously funny, and I have so much fun with him. We also finally went to church in Sugar Land, and it was just nice to do that. We've been out of town or something has been getting in the way of that EVERY Sunday. We're still church searching. We haven't found one that really stands out as the one we are supposed to committ to, but the sermon and worship is always refreshing. I'm beyond excited to go to Austin Stone next Sunday because we'll be in Austin. I can't wait until Austin is our home again soon.

We're having Paige Newton take some (late) engagement pictures for us next Sunday afternoon. She's really good and creative, and there are so many cool photo ops in Austin, plus it's such a special place for both of us. Check her out: paigenewtonphotography.blogspot.com
If I become a better blogger, I will post some pictures from this weekend and some engagements after! I'm staying with Courtney Hill, one of my Austin high young life girls as well, which makes me extra anxious to get to Austin because I miss those girls GREATLY.

We are working on finalizing everything for wedding details. Final meeting with Briscoe Manor tomorrow night. Dress Fitting Friday afternoon. Invitations out for the most part. Ceremony details with Brett. Everything is coming together! We asked Kim to do a solo while we are getting communion and I'm so excited for that! I'm also very proud/amazed by how much she has been performing for people. That will make the ceremony extra special =)

Well, while I am updating the blog, I have to include both the ups and the downs of life. Unfortunately, Matt's father Bill Perry, lost his battle to pancreatic cancer after 9 months. He passed away on November 24, 2008 at about 8 pm. The funeral was the day after Thanksgiving. It was a very sad funeral as he was so young, only 56, but the sermon was beautiful and there was a lot of support given to Matt and his family. Although we miss Bill, we are thankful he is in heaven and not suffering anymore, as the end was very tough physically and emotionally for him and for everyone. Please keep Matt, his 11 year old brother Jordan, and his mom Terry in your prayers, as well as Jenny, Matt's half sister, and everyone else affected by this. It is going to be hard that Bill couldn't make it to the wedding as well, but we know he is better off in Heaven than he was down here. We miss him.

I will get better at updates and blogging soon. I promise. Starting now. You will get to know the final wedding details, and I'm hoping it will continue on from there. That's all for today!

Great Weekend!

the girls and sheils
=)

I had a great weekend in Dallas/Fort Worth. Matt and I left work a little early and drove up to Dallas together--we got in around 10 pm and went straight to Brent Anderson's (he's one of matt's groomsman). He cracks me up! I left the guys and went to get a drink and meet up with Elise, Katelyn, and Danielle. It was fun and I stayed with Elise. It brought back memories from 3 years ago this same weekend (Texas/OU)when about 10+ girls stayed at Elise's parent's house. Needless to say, Carly and I left for Austin at like 3 am the Sunday of that weekend. Good times.

Well, since the game was at 11 am, I woke up at 6:30 on Saturday morning to get ready and go pick up Brent and Matt to go start our tailgate. We stopped about three times (Brent forgot his sunglasses, donuts and kolaches, and an atm run) before getting toward the fair. When we got there we got some prime parking in the yard of Sheila Johnson, who was HILARIOUS. It was not so cheap parking but her house was right across from the fair/Cotton Bowl. She also gave us her phone number, address, name and email for next year. We'll be calling Sheila again I'm sure. She kept coming over and getting some drinks from our cooler. Her choice drink? A little beer mixed with Vodka. Yuck. We also took a picture with her! Our tailgate was Carly, Chad, Hector, Cotton, Ali, Brent, Matt, and myself. So much fun!

The game could not have gone better, minus some bad referee calls! We played awesome. I honestly didn't know whether we could pull off a win or not, and we definitely did! It was so close the whole time and ended up being 45-35 Longhorns at the end. Definitely the best Texas/OU weekend/game I've been to yet! I hope I don't miss this game ever unless I absolutely have to. We got to sit with a bunch of our friends we rarely see too. I'm also thrilled we are currently #1 in the rankings, but I know we still have a hard schedule ahead of us playing 3 teams in the top 12 the next three weeks!

Life Update

Since I have now graduated college and don't get to talk to my friends and family as much as I want to (the list of people to keep up with and call keeps growing)I decided to start a blog! So here is what my life is like these days:

I started a new job. I work at The Mathis Group in Sugar Land. I am a Project Manager's Assistant---basically working in the office. They serve as Project Managers for Design/Construction jobs (for example Hilton, YMCA, etc). It's semi-temporary since we're still waiting to see if Matt will be transfered to Austin after sales training. I REALLY want to be there. It's halfway between Matt's family and my family, and I just miss Austin. I really like my job though so far. It's nice to work full time and get paid every two weeks! It was a nice change after having little to no income for a few months (I was definitely almost broke--not the best way to start marriage).

Speaking of marriage, Matt and I are getting married so soon! It's a little over 3 months (102 days---who's counting??). I can't believe we've already been engaged over 6 months and that we have such little time left! I know with the holidays just around the corner these next few months are going to fly by! We went to Katie and Tyler's wedding this weekend (which was absolutely perfect! Katie you looked BEAUTIFUL). It was so fun to see all of our friends who have moved all over (San Francisco, Dallas, D.C., etc!) and a few AHS girls! The wedding also got me excited and maybe a LITTLE stressed about our wedding. There's a lot left to do! I'm also starting to try and get more in shape, I should have a dress fitting soon. Matt and I go on a walk or jog/run every day after work now. That's pretty impressive for both of us. We usually take Bailey (my family's chocolate lab). I swear she's the funniest/best/cutest dog in the world. You can argue with me on that but you'll be wrong! =)

Matt and I officially got Texas/OU tickets for this weekend's game. I'm nervous! They are #1. It's going to be a great game (hopefully). Colt's looking good. Then I get to go to the Michigan State/Ohio State game the next weekend because I'll be in Michigan for my bridal shower with my family. Good Football! I am also slowly but surely becoming more of an NFL fan. Matt likes the NFL more than college football which I'm not used to. I don't think I'll ever get to liking them more than college.

Well, that's all for now. I'll try and get fancier with my blogging later with pictures and stuff!

Oh, and Happy Birthday Latane tomorrow!
